Lost in Translation
03:29
|
|||
When the moon rises I can’t help but chide
I mock and belittle the more anxious side
Not that my songs were much different
The meaning was always transparent,
It was lost in translation
I watched the stars drift as a stranger approached
He rudely interrupted with a fervent approached
He asked, “ you, two balconies high,
Why on earth do you stare at the sky,
It’s cold in the city. “
We talked for a bit and I lent him some cash
Soon after he left, through the air, pierced a crash.
Then silence that followed, I knew
My friend in the stars had come through
and passed quite slowly
The truth is that we never spoke
He spoke to the sky as I wrote
If only I’d soothed his repose
It was lost in translation
I’m not prepared to concede just yet
Years ago I made a dangerous bet
I promised the lord I would live
Don’t tell me that fiction can’t forgive
I need to have something
The sunrise informs all the children of death
The cold and the impact robbed him of his breath
I’m not so sure he was sad
If nothing else, I was damn glad
I made his acquaintance
He left us to muse over loss
His family was really quite cross
Tomorrow we’ll lose all remorse
The next “accident” will be worse
Noone would known we had spoke
If only his death were revoked
We weren’t even in the same universe
If only our roles were reversed, he would
still be here

The Ballad of Missy May
02:05
|
|||
Strollin' into town, just me and my dog
All the locals convinced that we didn't belong
We walked tall (and proud) as we entered the Inn
little did we know what was yet to begin
Approaching the counter with nobody home
I had an intuition that we weren't alone
I peeked above my shoulder, and what should be there?
but that old slimey devil Mr. Ou Contraire
All at once his men came upon us with gunfire
We saw an opportunity to flee as they called me a liar
it was then that Missy May stepped between us and they
She told me I was a putz and that she'd never stay
My heart was in pieces, so what could I do
I sat there and took a bullet right in the shoe
My dog ran and hid as I became riddled
with all the other insults that mocked and belittled
sat on the floor, just waiting to die,
something was screaming from deep inside
it sounded pretty happy ( a bit absurd )
it told me that I finally got what I deserved
